NASA/USAF Fire Rescue Department

It appears that after October 1, 2008 Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station will no longer be one department. In October 1998 under the JBOSC contract Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station combined their fire and security forces under one contractor. This is no longer going to be the case. NASA and the Air Force have elected to split the two sides and go their own way with separate contractors. NASA is reportedly to announce their contractor decision sometime in May of 2008 and the Air Force sometime in July 2008. NASA has combined majority of its bases into one Agency Wide Protective Services contract. The reported companies bidding for the new contract on the NASA side are Wackenhut, Pinkerton, and Rural Metro and possibility some more smaller companies. This new contract will leave each base with 3 fire stations manned 24/7.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next.

Amen.
