Frequently Asked Questions...
Compact light weight sleeping bag option ?
Hello, I just learned about Bivy Sack. I am in Florida and we mostly deal with humid hot weather condition with TONS of mosquito and bugs. But I am a minimalist and like the size and weight of Bivy Sack. Also down here we have TONS of rain and storm.
For Emergency use I am looking at this item, but is there better option ? What kind of shelter / sleeping bag option do you use if you are in HOT HUMID area out camping ?
Answer:
I would actually probably recommend a hammock. You'll get a much better breeze in a hammock.

Bivy sacks are fine, but if it's hot and humid and you need a breeze, then that's probably not the way to go. They're rather confining and if it rains you need a cover - which eliminates your air flow.
I'll be using a TarpTent on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike next March, so I do recommend those as well. You'll have to check the weight comparison between the hammock and tarptent (lightest at 18.5 oz. http://tarptent.com/sublite.html ) - more room to move in a tarptent, but perhaps the hammock is ligher.
Hope this is helpful to you!
